Stainless Steel Brakes

Strange Engineering’s stainless steel brake kits are designed for drag racing’s most abusive applications. Strange Stainless Steel Brake Kits offer drag racers a safer and more efficient alternative to conventional carbon steel brakes. Strange’s Dynamic Drive Mount (DDM) system secures the stainless rotor with an internal Spirlox – eliminating all thermally generated stress from rotor attachment points. The Strange DDM system allows the hat and rotor to expand and contract independently- allowing for thermal expansion, which drastically reduces warping, coning, and cracking, which are common with bolt retention designs. The elimination of hat/rotor bolts – eases assembly and eliminates rotating weight. The DDM hat is fully machined from billet aluminum – further reducing rotating weight. Strange stainless steel rotors are machined from premium stainless billets, proprietary heat treated and fully ground. Strange Stainless exhibits 48% greater yield strength at 1,000° F compared to carbon steel – further maintaining rotor integrity. Strange Stainless steel DDM rotors, combined with the new billet aluminum Evolution calipers, offer superior heat capacity, maximum clamping (braking) force, stiffness, high caliper piston retraction and reduction of rotating weight – resulting in a more efficient accelerating and stopping drag racing vehicle.

Strange offers two styles of DDM stainless steel rotors. Our traditional stainless rotor with directional slots and our new Evolution S stainless rotor. Both slot designs reduce rotating weight, increase air flow, and promotes even heat dissipation. The Evolution S rotor features unique aero slots and is designed for racer’s desiring minimal weight, while not compromising brake performance.
